What I learned from nearly missing my first Then Come Kiss Me deadline

Presented in the order in which they came to mind:

  1. I was correct in thinking my painterly rendering style would take a bajillion years

  2. I will do it anyway because I like it and it suits this particular story

  3. The sketching/modeling/line art phase takes the longest

  4. The rendering phase is actually like three phases: painting, shading, highlights and effects

  5. I understand why comics artists work in teams or have assistants

  6. I still want this to be fun, not stressful

  7. Plowing through the rendering to get scene 2 posted in time was still, somehow, fun

  8. Time spent on scene 2 averaged out to about 8 hours per page

  9. I definitely need to be better about minding my hand and wrist health

  10. I’m better at not expecting my first time doing something to be perfect

  11. At least, better at recognizing that that is a silly expectation

  12. I’m so glad I decided to take this leap.
