Introducing: Cesario and Orsino
Meet our would-be lovers: Cesario and Orsino!
Cesario (left) is a young nobleman of Messaline, who resigned himself to an unhappy life as a woman until he was shipwrecked off the coast of Illyria. Separated from everyone who knew him, his twin brother lost beneath the waves, Cesario seizes the chance to form himself according to his own wishes.
A talented lute player and orator, Cesario secures himself a place as musician in the Duke’s court. He’s putting himself at the Duke’s mercy, but he didn’t expect the man to be so kind.
Orsino (right) is the young Duke of Illyria, a position that is his by both birth and conquest. The death of his father started a minor civil war between the nobles of the region, who believed Orsino would be unable to hold the seat of power. Orsino prevailed, however, and in the year since the war’s end, he’s become beloved by his court and his subjects.
He loves music and poetry, despite not being permitted to study them. It’s no surprise to him when he finds himself smitten with his new bard.
Two men in Elizabethan-era clothing stand facing away from each other, each striking a courtly pose. On the left, Cesario, in a simple, dark red suit. He is a slim young man with pink-white skin, black hair, and blue eyes. On the right, Orsino, wearing a suit of brocade with golden trim. He is tall, athletic, with brown hair, eyes, and skin.
